Reeves vari-speed jr. disc assembly pulley, 1/2" shaft
Got this from an old shop selling off stuff from the shelves. The box is there a a bit ragged. See photos.
The way it works is that by moving the motor (driver motor with this pulley) closer or farther away from the driven machine the tension on the belt is increased or lessened.
As the tension on the belt is increased the tension spreads the pulley halves apart lowering the ratio of drive to driven because the belt travels a shorter path. As the tension is decreased the spring inside this pulley closes the halves together increasing the diameter around which the belt travels increasing the speed of the driven machine. The open photo is a bit blurry but you get the idea. (I hope). There is some paint flaking. See photos. Handy if you want to be able to change speeds without doing a lot of work.
