Originally designed for a high quality audio amplifier.
Constructed so as to separate the tube socket from the main chassis, allowing less noise to be generated in critical audio applications.
The heat generated by the 12AX7 or 12AT7 tubes would not melt the solder on the circuit board, as the assembly provides some isolation for heat and noise.
Solder terminals are silver plated and constructed of highest quality.
Very difficult configuration to locate.
