Constant Wattage Autotransformer (CWA) or a peak-lead style ballast and is typically used on higher wattage lamps
This ballast is markedly different from a reactor or an HX style ballast and requires a specialized lamination design.
Another factor distinguishing the CWA ballast from reactors and HX style ballasts is that the ballast capacitor is connected in series with the ballast secondary.
By design, this circuit offers better lamp power regulation for line voltage variation from reactor and HX style circuits, but it is also larger, less efficient and more expensive than these units.
Similar to the High Reactance style design, this ballast usually comes with multiple taps to accommodate a variety of applications
