Up for sale is a 1962 John Deere 2010 Row Crop Agricultural Tractor. There were two versions, the utility and the row crop. It is a good step up to get onto this taller version of the tractor. I have owned the tractor since 1976. It has a 8 forward and 3 reverse power shift transmission. I have a fairly steep paved driveway and drove up in recently in 7th gear. The body has some slight surface rusting but would clean up nice if interested in restoration of the tractor.
In 1994, I had the engine completly rebuilt. I had left the rain cap off and if caused engine problems. The man who rebuilt it worked as a professional mechaic at a construction company and did an great job. He went thru everything in the engine and installed a new clutch. The hours since then have been minimal. At the time the tractor was in the Finger lakes of New York State. I used it for amatuer farming. It pulled a 3 bottom plow and a 12 disk. In 1998 when I moved to the Adirondacks, the tractor came along. No plow, No disk, No topsil here. I use it to mow a half acre of grass in the front of the house and to harvest firewood. There are forks on the back (3 point hitch) and you can cut the tree in 8 foot sections and bring the whole tree back with you. Then at the firewood site, you leave the forks up and rotate cutting chunks off until the wood is cut up. No bending over.
The brakes were redone at the time but one peddle has froze up. I change the oil regular but missed greasing that brake.
The tractor has live hydrualics at the rear. Two places to connect hydraulic hoses. There is a very slight leak here.
I have an older Bush Hog brand 5 foot mower and rear forks that i will throw in. No good to me after the tractor leaves.
If you are an adirondacker or live in the north, you need the tire chains. They are in pretty good shape and come with the tractor.
