Includes three consoles described below.
Embed tissue specimens in paraffin conveniently with Tissue-Tek III Tissue Embedding Console System (TEC). Three independent modules: central paraffin dispenser work station, thermal console, and cryo console. Uni-plane modular design provides identical surface heights for smooth work flow and allows positioning units for left-to-right or right-to-left procedures.
Tissue-Tek Thermal Console 4585 Front chamber holds cassettes with processed tissue specimens prior to paraffin embedding. Store and warm base molds in rear chamber.
Both chambers have temperatures that adjust from approximately 50 C - 70 C.
Separate front and rear "Chamber Heat" displays indicate when chambers are actually being heated.
Front chamber has tray which can be partially filled with paraffin to hold cassettes with processed specimens at the optimum temperature prior to embedding. Retractable lid may be closed to maintain constant chamber temperature.
Rear chamber with flip top cover holds base molds at proper temperature and helps keep them dust free. Display panel indicators illuminate during operation to show "Front chamber heat"; "rear chamber heat"; and "Power-on rocker switch. Thermal fuses protect against overheating. Includes mercury thermometer to check chamber temperatures.
Tissue-Tek Dispensing Console (4586) TEC System's central work station is used to heat and dispense paraffin. Includes heated 2 liter paraffin chamber, heated orientation platform, patented "Cold Spot" for chilling specimen into position on the first paraffin pour, plus dispenser island for dispensing paraffin by finger touch control or foot switch.
Melted paraffin from rear paraffin chamber is filtered through fine mesh screen to collect debris. Then, it is dispensed from central dispenser island using touch plate or foot switch. Island work light illuminates orientation platform for more accurate specimen positioning. Three forceps wells on each side of dispenser island. Large orientation platform with durable, nylon working surface is heated to assure that paraffin does not solidify in preliminary phase of embedding.
Cold Spot located at the front of the orientation platform is independently chilled at 15 C by a separate thermo-electric control. Groove in platform helps channel excess paraffin into waste drawer located under platform.
Display panel indicators illuminate when the following are operational:
"Chamber heat", Platform "Area heat", "Power on", separate on-off light and power switches. Exact temperature of paraffin is shown by temperature display on upper portion of display panel. Display switch allows selection of temperature readout for paraffin in chamber or paraffin dispensed through spout.
