The wheel is made of fused silica for high power or ultraviolet applications. The wheel is about 2mm thick, and is removable from the stepper motor housing and mount. When removed, it has a fixed 3/4" diameter center aluminum hub that goes on a 1/4" diameter shaft.
The stpper motor drive uses a Vexta 2-phase, 1.8 deg stepper motor with 2.8 ohm 0.95 amp coils. The mount also has a notched allignment wheel (removable) which goes to an optical detector for indicating a HOME position. The small circuit card with the optical detector is also easily removable.
Overall, an extremely well made optical attenuator wheel. Even without the stepper drive or mount, the wheel alone is a $300-$400 item. Add another $300 for the mount and drive, and you can see how much this is worth. This wheel is new, unused condition, removed from equipment that was never put into use.
