Mach3 CNC Control PC with full Windows XP SP3 license and CD. Also EMC2 compatible (See below) This is a very small PC designed for use in Automation Control systems such CNC machines.
External case dimensions are: 7.5 x 8.5 x 2.75" Preloaded with Mach3 CNC software.
The Mach3 software allows a PC to perform as a 6 Axis CNC controller.
The software is supported by a very active Email list and Web Forum.
Mach3 is used by many OEMs on new CNC machines being made worldwide. This PC controller is ideal for mounting inside a Nema style industrial electrical panel where space always seems to be at a premium.
Mounting your control PC inside an enclosure ensures that cutting chips, dust, and coolant will not make their way into your control PC. A Nema 12 rated enclosure is recommended for maxium protection.
This PC should be very happy running in a 50 degree C - 122 degree F environment continuously. It was tested at 115 degrees ambient and there was still plenty of thermal headroom in the design to handle a 122 degrees ambient environment. (don't try this with the normal office grade PC)
This PC has 4 (four fans inside this enclosure to prevent hot spots) and allow the computer to be run in high ambient temperatures. Panel/Wall mount foot brackets are included as shown. DIN rail mount brackets can be installed for an additional $5.00
The Windows XP operating system on this PC has been optimized for use with the Mach3 CNC Software per Mach3 recommendations and personal experience in utilizing the Mach3 software on various machines. http:// .
This PC does not include a Mach3 software license but does have a recent version of the lockdown software version of Mach3 pre-installed on the hard drive. When the installed Mach3 software is run, it goes into Demo mode which limits the number of lines of Gcode that can be executed to 500 lines until a license is purchased. A full set of Mach3 system documentation is also included on the hard drive.
If you are interested in a Mach3 software license, one can be supplied with this PC Controller at an additional cost. Please ask for a PC controller/Mach3 software combo price quote if you also need a Mach3 license. This PC is ready to be mounted and wired into a machine control panel. The windows software has already been activated. No need to bother with Microsoft activation issues. The PC controller includes the Microsoft COA and a re-installation CD.
EMC: If you would rather use EMC2 as a Machine Controller, this same PC is available with EMC2 preloaded also at a reduced cost - about $100 less. EMC2 works great on this hardware platform. EMC2 is a very robust and reliable CNC controller software program that runs under Ubuntu Linux. If you are having reliability problems with Mach3, you should try EMC2. EMC2 is a free, user supported package where Mach3 is a commercial software package. Mach3 costs $175 typically which is still very inexpensive compared to anything else available having to do with CNC software and hardware. Using EMC2 vs Mach3 will save you approximately $100 (Windows XP cost) plus $175 (Mach3 cost), or about $275. Mach3 is windows based and has windows related issues, while EMC2 is Linux based and it has linux related issues (primarily that fewer people are familiar with Linux than Windows in the US).
Computer Performance: This PC Controller utilized the latest, state of the art, low power dual core Atom CPU from Intel. This Intel Atom 330 CPU has two CPU cores for faster processing and each CPU core runs at 1.6 Ghz. This PC Controller easily passes the Mach3 driver software test. Other Features: Onboard Video - easily supports a 24" flatscreen at high resolution with 32 bit color, 2 Gigabytes of DDR2 RAM with heat spreader, 160 Gigabyte 2.5" Sata II Hard drive, On board Chipset fan, 3 additional case fans strategically positioned to minimize heat buildup within the case. Tested for thermal performance in industrial enclosures at up to 50 degrees C - 122 degree F. Low total power dissipation - a maximum of 42 watts as configured. Typical power dissipation is less than 25 watts. External 120 VAC to 12 volt power brick rated at 8.5 amps. The DC-DC power supply mounted in the case is over sized at 150 watts for long life. One 25 pin Parallel port, normally used to interface to stepper or servo drives either directly or via a break out board. One RS232 serial port ideal for interfacing I/O or PLCs via a Modbus connection. 6 USB 2.0 ports - 4 on the back and 2 beneath the front cover. An S video output port is also included on the bank panel (not shown in the picture). A USB WiFi adapter will fit under the front plastic bezel along with a USB stick drive for use as a hard drive backup. An Auto-on feature settable via jumpers under the front cover allows the PC to boot up as soon as it sees power. A gigabit Ethernet port is also onboard along with PS2 ports. A full stereo sound chipset is also onboard which allows the viewing and listening to training videos, etc with the addition of a speaker system or headphones.
The Mach CNC software system can also use voice/sound prompts to signal operators via the same onboard sound system. One year limited warranty on parts. I actually use these PC controllers on new and retrofit industrial CNC machines. Oftentimes PC controllers equipped with Mach3 software can be used to replace expensive, proprietary industrial multiaxis motion controllers such as those available from Parker Compumotor and Galil. The little black box PC is the only device in the pictures included in the sale. The other objects are shown to reveal it's size. The power brick is included also but not shown.
