The elegant Blue Sumatra originated from the Island of Sumatra in Asia.
This breed has an extremely graceful form, a long flowing tail with lustrous midnight blue plumage, a small dark comb and is very rare and beautiful.
Blue Sumatras are considered a primitive breed.
The roosters have multiple spurs and usually weigh between 4 and 5 lbs.
Females lay about 100 white eggs a year. Both male and female Blue Sumatra have no wattles.
The females weigh 3 1/2-4 lbs.
The Blue Sumatra can come in different shades of blue, dark blue, black and splash.
Andalusian genetics apply to this breed You can theoretically expect 50% blue, 25% black and 25% blue splash chicks from these hatches...
All colors are lovely.. An exceptional and stately bird that is also well natured and sociable with frequent interaction
Blue Sumatras are easily handled and make an excellent choice for exhibition
