This kit is based on the 28 pin AVR board that Jonathan Oxer Reviewed. Jonathan is the author of Practical Arduino, which looks to be an amazing book. Can't wait to get my own copy.
The current bord being sold is version 1.3 which includes the following improvements over the previous version:
