For sale- an NRC National Research Corporation Model 0183 Diffusion Vacuum Pump. This pump is set up for 208VAC, 1450 watts, with a fluid charge of 300cc. When I have sold diffusion pumps in the past they are typically something I have stripped off of a larger piece of scientific equipment. Usually they are kinda grungy.
This pump was loose when I bought it, part of a larger lot. It has a cap over the large flanged opening which not only protects the pump from getting dirt inside it protects the flange as well. With the cap removed, as I think you can see in the pictures, this pump is incredibly clean internally, and has had the oil drained so I won t have to mess with it.
The physical condition, other than being dusty on the outside from sitting around in my warehouse, is excellent. It could almost pass for new other than there is some residual rubber on the smaller port, no doubt from one of those thick-walled red gum rubber vacuum hoses. So I have to assume it has seen service at some point. It has an undated inspection hang tag on it from Norton, which is what NRC morphed into. So perhaps it went back to the factory for a rebuild and then never got used again? Wouldn t you pull the tag before you put it back into service?
The flange of the pump is about 9 OD, and the vacuum inlet is a bit less than 6 , so I am guessing 150mm. The port for attaching a roughing pump is about 1 OD.
