Elgin hi rpm (3600) model shop lathe 8"X16" excellent

Here's a Lovely Little 8"x16" Metal Working Lathe that spent most of its life in a Model Shop of a Major AeroSpace Instrument Company. It was made in Elgin, Illinois USA many years ago. It has a Hardinge type tapered spindle nose with a 1-7/16" dia. hole through. It accepts standard 5 C collets only one included The tailstock has a #2 Morse Taper & travels 4" Power required is 220 v 3 Phase. presently under power Speed Control, power, forward and reverse is all controlled by the 3 levers.
According to information I found on the Internet this Machine is the Predecessor to the Hardinge and was made in the late 1930's or early 40's. Serial No. is EB 5C-11247-L It's rare to see a Machine of this age in such good condition. It still has what appears to be the Original Paint Job with a few nicks & scratches as you can see. The lathe has seen very little use since I acquired it back in the early 80's.
