In nearly new cosmetic condition is this Sorvall SS-4 Manual Superspeed workhorse of a centrifuge!! The rotor is the SS-34 but is not the original silver. Rotor shows some cosmetic use, but there is no rust or worn out fittings etc. Rated to run up to 17k RM's (with current rotor)!! Providing 34800g's!! That's a ton of g's for a benchtop model with no refrigeration, almost equivalent to a full scale floor model.

This unit was carefully inspected and tested:
* Drive runs smoothly without excess noise or vibration
* RPM gauge was tachometer calibrated @ 10k
* Thoroughly cleaned/decontaminated
Note: During testing, this unit occasionally tripped the circuit breakers (fuses) when ramping down the speed dial below '0' RPM for unknown reason. At the '0' mark the unit will come to a stop just fine, but when you turn the dial further past '0' we noticed an occasional circuit trip. This problem was resolved when we gave the unit it's own dedicated power supply. This lead us to believe the unit is fine, but under original test conditions there was already too much amperage on that circuit allocated elsewhere. In other words the unit works great and will not trip breakers as long as it has an unshared input power (I believe the manufacturer intended/suggests the same as well).
