Q- Do donors have a negative reaction when they know you keep a percentage of the commission?
A- There aren t any negative donor reactions due to the fact there are no donors or donations received. I think you may have the wrong idea about this business model. It seems you believe the merchant pays the cash reward/rebate to the charities, and you are feeling bad for keeping a percentage of it. That s not at all the case.
1. The merchants don t pay the reward to charities. They pay you a commission for driving sales to them.
2. Cause marketing drives traffic and generates more sales. To drive traffic and generate more sales, YOU offer an incentive. The incentive can be anything you want if you had a niche site for schools, it could be Points for Pencils or Savings Bonds for Babies. You get my point. Although our model uses a simple percentage of paid commissions formula as a financial incentive - known only to you and not your site visitors - you could alternatively offer a dollar for every purchase. You'll decide on the percentage of your commissions that you want to share and only post that percentage on your shopping portal as the reward.
3. Your contract with the merchants is not public information. Although people may assume you make commissions, it isn t always the case.
