Realistic (Radio Shack) 20-300 PRO-43 Programmable Handheld Scanner Radio. Serial # 040422. 200 channels, individual lockouts and switchable 2-second delay. Lighted LCD display. BNC jack for included flex antenna or optional extra external base or mobile antenna. Requires 6 "AA" NiCd or alkaline batteries (not included) or optional extra 9VDC 300mA AC adapter or cigarette lighter adapter with 3.4/1.3mm negative tip coaxial power plug (RadioShack Adaptaplug "H") which can plug into either the power or charging jack. This radio was made before NiMH batteries were around so I really don't know if the charging circuit will charge NiMH batteries, the owner's manual only references NiCd batteries for the rechargeable option when charging inside the radio. Frequency coverage - 30-54MHz 118-136.975MHz 137-174MHz 220-400MHz 400-512MHz 806-823.9375MHz 851-868.9375MHz 896-999.9875MHz. This radio does not monitor trunked systems !!! This radio covers the UHF Military and Coast Guard aircraft band. It also has an AM/FM mode change switch so you can listen to traffic such as the USAF Thunderbirds which use VHF frequencies and are defaulted to FM on this and other radios but you can switch to AM on these frequencies on this radio. This radio is a new item which had been sitting on the shelf of our family-owned store since February 1993 .... it has some slight scratches on the case from me using a feather duster all those years and you have to use a magnifying glass to see the scratches but otherwise it is as new as the day it rolled off the production line from Japan in 1993.
