Data Instruments P.E. Impact System is an impact-sensitive device with adjustable sensitivity for use with the IC Controller. The P.E. sensor is mounted on the back of a 12 x 12 inch steel impact plate and interconnected to a P.E. converter. The converter contains the signal conditioning and output circuitry. The sensor and reflector plate are shock mounted to filter out the machine and tooling induced vibrations. The P.E. Impact Assembly is completely solid state with no moving parts and is designed to yield high reliability and long life.
The sensor is used where parts are ejected from a die through a confined space of less than 12 x 12 inches. An air blast is used to propel small parts into the impact plate. The unit will detect parts striking its surface with as low a velocity as 10 f.p.s. the parts [depending on the material] may be as light as 0.01 ounces. The system can be used on presses running at speeds up to 175 strokes per minute.
