Caterpillar R4 crawler tractor antique us 7TH fleet
The serial number is not readable, altho it will be stamped under the tag. There is a very clear US7 stamped on the tag indicating that this tractor was in the US Seventh Fleet and may have seen service in the Pacific Theater. R4s were made from 1938 untill 1944 and all had gasoline engines.

The tracks and undercarriage are in very good condition.
This tractor was disassembled to rebuild and restore but the owner passed away. The engine appears to be in great shape with little wear on the cylinders. The engine and related parts have been stored inside and covered so there is no rust or damage. The crank and cam have been wrapped up to protect them. The only major part I can find missing is the magneto. Some of the parts are already cleaned and primed. The sheet metal is in good condition with minor surface rust. None of the tins are rusted through or severely damaged. Most transmission, steering, final and undercarriage parts are interchangeable with Cat Thirty, R4, RD4 and D4 from 1935 thru the 1950's The primary value of this Cat is the undercarriage and tracks, which are in great shape for being about 70 years old, and are no longer available. It would make a great restoration project because of it's very good condition. It could also be used to restore an early D4, but I do not want to separate these original parts.

This tractor weighs in at around 9000 pounds, plus there are 4 pallets of parts. It's going to take some work to get it loaded, so we will need to discuss how all that gets handled. Delivery is available to a limited area, for an additional cost.
