Instructions for Oscillatory & Rotary Electric Bone Saw
The Oscillating Saw has the advantages of both oscillating and rotating movement. This versatile saw has many uses invaluable to the Orthopaedic Surgeon. The oscillating movement permits cuts in either direction without the danger of the blade jumping. It does not tear tissue. The movement in oscillation is fast and assures safety.
The motor unit is similar in performance to the Rotary Electric Bone Saw. The variable speed footswitch permits speeds slow enough to insert Steinman pins, to drill, ream etc. The Jacobs Chuck accommodates any size pin, wire or attachment up to and including diameter. Different Blades are provided for different surgeries and post mortem. The saw can be used for craniotomy, amputation & osteotomy. Single and double arbours are provided to accommodate the blades.
The motor unit and cord should be sterilized in formaline chamber. The change from rotating to oscillating movement is simple. For rotary position, push the chuck in upward position and tighten the knurled screw when chuck is visible above the chuck cap and stops coming forward. To change to oscillation, release the knurled screw located close to the base of the chuck cap. The chuck is now pushed downward with a twisting motion, a slight snap is heard when the chuck has been seated down in oscillating position. The knurled screw is now tightened. It is important that the chuck be locked in either rotation or oscillation movement before running.
