Silver Lakenvelders are beautiful. Black and white markings, white skin and slate colored legs. Lakenvelder, when translated from the Dutch means a shadow on a sheet .
Lakenvelders are quite small when mature and are very quick and active. Silver Lakenvelders are a beautiful variety that attract a lot of attention because of their unique contrasting color pattern.
They are excellent producers of medium white eggs.

They are also a rare breed and non-setters. Hens reach only 3 to 4 pounds.
Lakenvelders are great foragers if allowed to free range and the feed conversion ratio is quite good.
Ours have also been very dependable layers... They are the first to begin laying in the Spring, are very heat tolerant throughout the Summer months and have done very well through the Winter.......
