Microspec x-ray spectrometer
I am offering the WDX-3PC X-Ray spectrometer with the SEM-Interface accessory you see in the photo as a single lot.
This precision Wave Dispersive X-Ray Spectrometer (WDX) was parted out from an experimental apparatus & has been well cared for; it uses a crystal diffraction spectrometer for high spectral resolution (3.0 eV to 25.0 eV) coupled with dual gas proportional counters serving as detectors.
The X-Ray spectrum emitted by the sample is the result of bombardment of the sample by energetic electrons sourced from a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
Note that this sale is only for the spectrometer mechanism & SEM-Interface. The spectrometer control unit (SCU), PC computer with software, cables, etc. are not available & hence not included in this sale. The SCU unit controls the spectrometer's internal stepper motors for wavelength selection & X-Ray focusing. It also allows the selection of a crystal from any of the four crystals mounted on the crystal turret. The HV supply for the detectors, the LV for the preamp as well as all of the signal processing electronics are included in the SCU.
Other than the S/N - see photo, I have no documentation that provides which variation of the WDX-3PC (1988 vintage) this is. The manufacturer offered at least seven different crystals that provide wavelengths between 1.1436 A & 182.00 A; in addition, the WDX-3PC spectrometer was designed to interface to a number of Scanning Electron Microscopes including: Akashi, Amray, Cambridge, Camscan, ETEC, Hitachi, ISI, JEOL, Phillips, and Zeiss, so each SEM-Interface is different. In any event, this item would be of particular interest to a lab already possessing the associated WDX equipment & needing a different spectrometer.
Again, this sale is only for the Spectrometer mechanism with the attached SEM-Interface you see in the photo.
