Thermo Scientific KeyTek MiniZap ESD Simulator
The Thermo Scientific MiniZap is a battery operated, hand-held 15kV ESD test simulator for performing contact mode and air discharge mode testing. It is the defacto industry standard for ESD testing of products at the system level.
The MiniZap allows users to meet both the 0.7 to 1.0ns rise time requirements of IEC 61000-4-2 as well as perform "real-world" testing with faster rise time waves to determine how a product will really survive in its intended environment.
ESD is considered by many to be the most common cause of failure in microprocessor-based equipment. Therefore, testing of such systems demands clean, reproducible waveforms to avoid producing failures where none would exist in the field. The MiniZap waveforms not only meet the requirements of current standards, but also meets the requirements for waveform purity when verified using a wide bandwidth instrument.
The MiniZap is capable of up to 15kV air and 8.8kV contact testing and offers a wide selection of options that may be purchased now or in the future to meet your testing needs.
The MiniZap performs compliant-level ESD testing in accordance with IEC 61000-4-2 and ANSI C63.16.
* Voltage Range: 0.5 to >8 kV, Contact Mode; 0.5 to 15 kV, Air Discharge
* Air Discharge: TRUE-ESD (<0.3 ns nominal risetime up to 4 kV)
* Contact Mode: FR/CI std <0.3 ns risetime independent of charge voltage; 3.75A/kV 10% peak, e.g. 30 A @ 8 kV
* RC Networks: 150 pF/330 ohm standard (other RC networks available)
* Lock On: Standard (with safety interlock)
* Rep Rate: Single shot as well as 1/sec and 20/sec repetitive operation
* HV Display: Digital LCD display measures actual HV at the tip with 10V resolution, ~3% accuracy
* Ground Connect Warning: LED indicates ground cable not connected to tester
* Power: Operates either from 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz or 4 NiCd batteries with LED charge status indicator. (220/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz and European plugs optional)
* TPC-2A - IEC 0.7-1.0ns risetime contact-mode tip (standard in MZ-15/EC)
