This CE certified tester offers a rugged solution to leakage current measurement. Ideally designed for non invasive checks of insulation condition , this leakage meter allows performance of tests without having to power down the installation or disconnect any equipment, thus saving time while still being safe.
The 1/2" jaw eliminates the influence of adjacent cables and also minimises the effects of an external magnetic field, allowing un-hindered performance in crowded environments, and accommodates larger conductors.
Leakage current can be an indication of the effectiveness of insulation on conductors. High leakage levels can be found in circuits where insulation resistance is low or electronic equipment with filters is used, which can disrupt the operation of installations and equipment.
The main advantage of leakage testing over insulation resistance testing is that it is not necessary to power down the circuit, which in cases where power is essential means that testing can be done with this tester in the palm of the hand and readings can be taken at any time. This means that preventative measures can be taken before problems occur.
This is a multifunction tester and also measures AC current and voltage, so can be used as a clamp meter as well as a leakage tester.
