ABI Vest Airway Clearance System
The Vest consists of an inflatable vest connected by hoses to an air-pulse generator.
The generator rapidly inflates the vest, compressing and releasing the chest wall. This
process is called high-frequency chest wall oscillation (HFCWO).
HFCWO generates increased airflow velocities which create repetitive cough-like shear

The need for airway clearance is not disease specified, but may arise from any number of
conditions that compromise pulmonary function, including; immobility dysphagia and aspiration hyperproduction of secretions
mucus plugging and atelectasis restrictive lung disease ineffective cough recurrent respiratory infections especially thick, sticky secretions
