The complete range of new SIMATIC Micro Memory Cards (MMC) (order no.'s 6ES7953-8Lx11-0AA0) is now available. MMCs with this new version are once again fully compatible with older SIMATIC units.
The new MMCs ('11') are fully compatible with the two older versions ('00' and '01'). A firmware update for older CPU revision levels is not necessary.
The new MMCs with 512KB and 128KB were already released for delivery in December 2003 and January 2004, respectively. The other MMC sizes (64KB, 2 MB, 4MB and 8MB) are now also available. The new MMCs are available under the following order no.'s which replace the previous order no.'s.
The compatibility of the different MMC versions with compact and standard CPUs in dependence on the firmware version can be seen from the following table:

The use of the new MMC in programming devices (PG) necessitates at least STEP7 version 5.2 SP1 with Hotfix 3, or STEP 7 Professional Edition 12/2002 Release 07/2003 with Hotfix 3. Hotfix 3 can be downloaded from the Internet. See entry ID 17545812.
