and occupational allergy. The M.I.C.E. design allows for housing, breeding, testing, quarantine, inhalation, whole-body exposure, toxicology,
and transport applications at conventional, barrier, and biocontainment facilities
All cages consist of top and bottom assemblies of high-temperature polycarbonate or polysulfone resin, and have the following features:
* A closed-system design that provides a filtered, one-pass airflow across the cage.
* A mouse cage top with stainless steel feeder, lid,
* The cage top forms an interlocking lid over the cage bottom to ensure a protected environment.
* The cage top supports an external water bottle.
* Rat cages have 180 square inches of area, sufficient to hold six 300-gram rats or three 350-gram guinea pigs.
* Cage tops and bottoms nest in convenient stacks for storage and/or autoclaving.
* Individual removable platforms for every two cages
* Cage guides on each platform allow simple cage insertion into the exhaust plenum.
* A positive locking system prevents accidental cage removal and verifies proper cage insertion.
* All airflow plenums are sealed airtight and constructed to allow proper one-pass airflow patterns and prevent contaminated air from entering the cages.
* Each cage is secured into the air exhaust plenum by a rack docking system.
* Each plenum is equipped with a removable top cap and bottom drain doors for simplified cleaning and drainage after sanitation.
* Vent hoses attach to caps and exhaust registers with quick-disconnect fittings.
* Rack assembly is mounted on stainless casters with 4" or 5" wheels.
* Entire rack assembly is constructed from 304-stainless steel.
