IMAGE1 is the first completely digital camera system by KARL STORZ, a technological first in the field of endoscopic camera systems. Digital Source Sampling technology, applied here for the first time, facilitates the fully digital transfer of information with no loss in quality using an A/D converter, as well as loss-free data storage on all known digital media. Alongside standard video signals, the camera also supports other digital video formats such as DV and SDI. The innovative operating concept permits ergonomical work processes and supports an intuitive operation of the camera. The IMAGE1 platform includes a large selection of camera heads for a customized configuration for the different specialties.

Digital at the source, Image-1 delivers pure digital imaging that realistically renders the patient anatomy for the cleanest, sharpest images. Digital Source Sampling (DSS) has the added benefit of minimizing image artifacts while reducing environmental influences such as electrosurgical unit interference. Thanks to Image-1 s unique, ergonomic design, surgeons will now enjoy effortless operation and one-handed manipulation of all camera functions with proper balance and intuitive control. Access to eight reprogrammable camera control operations from the sterile field ensures complete control at all times. Digital Smartcam Technology offers instant camera recognition for consistent, easy image optimization. And an integrated 2x parfocal optical zoom (14 mm 28 mm) provides an optimal image size with all telescopes, further reducing camera/telecope movement.
Any head, any time technology enables the use of one CCU with any camera head, encompassing all surgical specialties and procedures. This cross-platform functionality simplifies procedure set-up and also maximizes O.R. standardization. Additionally, Image-1 s expandable architecture ensures it is always ready to incorporate new technologies, such as HDTV.
