I actually do not have a cassette tape but I tested this out by plugging in the sytsem, making sure that the all of the buttons and moving parts worked, and they do, and also hooked up the foot pedal to make sure that the foot pedal did what it was supposed to do. If you push play, the system plays, push rewind, it rewind, etc. Also, the LCD screen works.
This includes a foot pedal, transcription machine in pretty good shape and also the AC adapter.
I cannot say vouch for the audio quality as I do not have a cassette tape to listen to. I do not know about this equipment so I really cannot answer any questions.
