6+ quality Showgirl Silkie hatching eggs assorted colors from our pen of SQ white, buff, and light blue hens under a white heterozygous (bowtie) Showgirl rooster (pictured). This rooster is from a prestigious line of exhibition white Silkies and Showgirl F12s. We have placed him with show quality bearded Silkie hens that we thought would produce well with him. We have been hatching the colors above at an average of 50% showgirls & 50% regular silkies from these eggs. The regular Silkies that do hatch from these eggs have been excellent quality & in most cases end up being show quality birds.
Showgirls are relatively new and were developed from crossing Silkies to naked neck (Turken) chickens. We have found them to be quite enjoyable, their personality is slightly different than our Silkies in that they are very engaging & slightly goofy. Our rooster is hilarious to watch and will tilt his head up and stare you directly in the eyes, chattering back at you as you talk to him. These birds are truly a conversation piece. All those that have met our rooster have asked for his chicks. He is a relatively new breeder (his fertility has been proven though at 90-95%), and already has a wait list for his offspring.
The hens in this pen have all been shown and have done quite well, with several past Best & Best opposite of Breed, and countless Best & Best Opposite of Variety wins in open shows. We normally do not part with too many showgirl eggs, but due to the incubators currently being full, and the ever increasing cost of feed, we thought it was time to share our eggs with others!
